Design for Wood Carving is not the same as for Fine art or even Sculpture.
Fine art is 2D World vs Sculpture and Wood carving is 3D world. Wood Carving is also a type of Sculpture. But if You compare a Clay Modeling and Wood Carving.
Modeling clay is the art of ADDING ON and Wood Carving is an Art of DEDUCTION.

And the art of deduction is a little more complicated. You can deduct with Your Carving tool just a 1/16” too much and Your work is "gone with the wind”.
To Design for wood carving We need to Think a little different. And the same questions should be always in our heads- What tools do I have and how I will carve what I am designing? How deep can my tool travel inside of my piece of wood and how it will turn.
