What tools do I need for woodcarving?
Whether you're new to wood carving or experienced, good tools are needed! Avoid spending money on cheap carving tools. There are a lot of tools available in the market. Don't buy them just because they are cheap. Wood carving is a relaxing hobby and shouldn't be hard. Begin carving with proper tools.

Your tools are your tools—you bought them and they're yours. But that doesn't mean you should be afraid of them or abuse them. They will last longer if you take care of them, so here's some advice on how to do just that:
– If you are new to woodcarving and have never tried it before, the first step is to learn all you can about your hand tools and how they work before using them! If something seems off, watch the woodcarving video lessons at my wood carving school about tools and sharpening over and over until you get it. This is very important for sharpening your gouges and chip carving knife — you could harm the blade or mess up its edge if you use anything other than the right sharpening stone or machine. I discuss this a lot in my video workshops.
